West on Track welcomes arrival of Luas

Press Release - Friday 2nd July 2004

The West on Track Community Campaign has welcomed the arrival of the first LUAS trains in Dublin.

"The launch of the first LUAS service marks a historic step forward for the people of Dublin and we congratulate all those involved in delivering the new service. People in the West will now look forward to similar positive thinking regarding the provision of essential rail services in the west of the country, most notably the Western Rail Corridor which links five counties and is an essential element of any realistic plan for balanced regional development, " said a spokesman for the campaign, which was launched in June of last year to seek the re-opening of the rail line from Sligo to Limerick.
